Mexican Superheroes and Villains
As well as enjoying translated versions of famous heroes from north of the border, Mexico has a large variety of home-grown heroes too. This became especially true in the 1990's, when the country appears to have experienced an explosion in the number of companies creating native Mexican characters. Please note that not being a Spanish speaker, much of what is in the profiles below has relied on the translating services of Alta-Vista's Babel Fish service, which while excellent, isn't 100% accurate. This means I've filled in occasionally with a "best guess" of what I know of the characters. If you know these characters and spot any mistakes, please let me know.

All the characters on this page are Mexican heroes. There are also Mexican-American heroes produced north of the border, including Murciélaga She-Bat and the heroes from Azteca Productions.

Luchadores Enmascarados (Masked Fighters)
This particular genre is so prevalent in Mexico that there are literally hundreds of Masked Wrestler characters (it's their equivalent of the WWF Wrestlers), all of whom fight monsters and criminals when not in the ring (at least, they are portrayed as doing so - the real life versions don't of course). There is no way I can list them all, so I'm just going to mention a few of the more prominent ones.
