He encountered a one-eyed Venusian (no name given) who gave Guy a "magic medallion," which bestowed "amazing powers" (unspecified what exactly the powers might have been). Thereafter, Guy helped his people in the guise of Supermaya. Chechen, the local Shaman, witnessed Guy's encounter with the Venusian and knew the truth about Supermaya; Chechen grew jealous of Supermaya and became his greatest enemy.

Comments: Thanks to Jean-Paul Tantte Rodriguez for providing information on and images of this character, and to Jon Glade of the International Comics Club for passing this information on. In addition to the above origin information, Jean-Paul also relayed the following through Jon: "Supermaya was published by the Mexican publisher Editorial Novaro in "the 70s." Unlike many Mexican comic books, "Supermaya" was printed in full color instead of sepia tones. No credits for writers or artists were given within the "Supermaya" series.

Once again, we have a hero powered by an artifact given as a gift by an extraterrestrial, as in the case of Supervolador. The most interesting thing about the Supermaya series is that it has elements of both a super-hero comic book and a historical period piece."
