Comments: Thirty new series debuted in 1973, and six came over from the Rover, which Wizard absorbed on January 20th, the third issue of the year (#154). With the merger the comic was retitled Wizard and Rover; one minor consequence of this merger was that the comic stopped numbering its issues. The title change didn't last long, with the comic reverting to being just The Wizard only eight issues later (unnumbered #161). A longer lasting change was the introduction of one-off text stories that dominated the cover spot, with other, ongoing series only rarely getting that coveted position.
