History: Raised by her eccentric mother, the local high school's lunch lady, Cassie Hack was always an outsider in her home town in Wisconsin. However when various fellow students who had picked on Cassie began vanishing around the same time the school menus suddenly got better, it wasn't too long before someone put two and two together. Dubbed "the Lunch Lady" by the local press, Cassie's mother escaped prosecution for her cannibalistic killing spree by immersing her head in a pot of boiling water. Never the most popular kid in school, Cassie was now ostracised. A new school and foster parents didn't help, and Cassie took up martial arts. Two years later Cassie's mother returned from the dead, and picked up her killing spree at Cassie's new school; Cassie took it upon herself to lay the Lunch Lady to rest once more. Finding a new purpose in life, Cassie set off to travel America hunting down other Slashers and hoping to find her father.
In Chicago Cassie investigated a series of murders blamed by the locals on "the Meatman", but when she met him, she learned he wasn't the murderer. Despite his monstrous appearance, the Meatman, or Vlad to give him his proper name, was not evil, and he assisted her in finding the real culprit, a Mafia assassin. Striking up an unusual friendship, Vlad joined Cassie on her quest.
