Pintados (Painted Ones)

Membership: Datu, Diwata, Tatto, Mayumi, Kidlat, Rajah

Purpose: To battle crime and injustice

Affiliations: Guro (team mentor)

Enemies: Katana, Anak Araw, Manananggal

Base of Operations: The Phillippines

First Appearance: Pintados (GMA Network, Channel 7)

History: After several rich Filipino families become victims of terrible crimes, they agree to set up and fund a foundation to battle the criminals. Under the command of "Guro", an unsanctioned agency of the government sets up a clandestine crime fighting unit. Each of the members is themself a victim of hideous crimes. This elite unit taken from all walks of life take a leaf from Filipino warriors of old, and cloak themselves in armour, ethnic war paint and tattoos, gaining the name "The Pintados" (Painted Ones). Opposing Pintados is the army of the human/reptile hybrid Katana.

Comments: Thanks to both Dan Ramon P. Geromo for informing me about these characters, and providing information and images.

Kevin Muego informed me of a few more of the teams' enemies: "Anak Araw"(an Albino crime syndicate leader) and a "Manananggal"(it's a mythical being from filipino folklore, a female who can sever her upper half and eats unborn babies)". He also noted "There was a sixth Pintado, actually the original one, if I'm not mistaken, named "Rajah." He is basically like a sixth Power Ranger type character, but sadly he was only included in 1 or 2 episodes. Aparently he was the first one, meaning he was an experiment, but I forgot why he left the force." If I can either track down more information about him, or someone out there can send me info and images of him, I'll add him to the entry properly.
