Powers/Abilities: Like most Daemonites, Helspont is extremely long lived and can possess the bodies of others. In Helspont's case, he has long worn the form of a mutated Acuran, an alien body which grants him powers in excess of others of his own species. His strength, speed and agility are all superhuman, he can move things telekinetically, and he can fire energy blasts from his hands.

History: Helspont is an ancient Daemonite, one of a long-lived race which had been fighting an interstellar war with their rivals, the Kherubim. Thousands of years ago, before the start of recorded human history, Helspont's warship was damaged in a battle in the vicinity of Earth, and crashlanded on our primitive world. The survivors, those who had made it to the lifeboats, were scattered across the planet; as the senior military officer, Helspont assumed leadership and the title of High Lord. He attempted to lead his forces in conquering the natives, but was constantly thwarted in this goal by Kherubim forces also stuck on Earth.

It's unclear what Helspont did for much of his exile on Earth. The first proper records of his surfacing relate to an attempt he made in the 1970s to instigate a nuclear war using the United States' arsenal, with the intention of cleansing the planet of humanity (which he considered an infestation). This plot was countered by Team One, a special forces unit led by Lord Emp, a Kherubim leader.

The next time Helspont showed his hand was in the early 1990s, when he placed a Daemonite inside the Vice-President of the USA, then tried to use the connections this granted him to contact his people and lead a Daemonite armada to Earth. Again his plot was stopped by Lord Emp, this time leading the team known as the WildCATS, and for a while it was believed Helspont was killed, killed in an explosion and buried under by the resulting rubble.

It was learned he had survived some time later, when the WildCATS sought to prevent Lord Defile, another Daemonite lord, from locating the crashed Daemonite ship (lost all these millennia) and the three keys needed to activate it's devastating weaponry. Helspont, as High Lord, had possessed one of the keys, Defile had the other, and the third was believed to be still on the ship. Helspont revealed that he was still alive, and was present when all the rival groups converged on the location they believed was the crash site. The downed spaceship turned out to be remains of the Kherubim vessel which had attacked Helspont's ship, but the weaponry on board was still powerful enough to apparently obliterate Helspont when Nautika and Sunburst, two members of StormWatch temporarily controlled by Defile, used the ship's guns on the hapless Daemonite.
