Gadgetman
Name: Burt Travis
Identity/Class: Human technology user
Occupation: Tycoon
Affiliations: Gimmick-Kid
Enemies: The Trickster, his Brain Men, Doom Boy, Doom Girl, King Zombie, the Mad Mummy, the Taunting Titan
Known Relatives: None
Aliases: None
Base of Operations: U.S.A.
First Appearance: Lion (I.P.C., 4 May 68 - 26 Oct 68)
Powers/Abilities: The pair use a variety of gadgets to fight crime, including jet shoes so that they can fly and gadget guns. Their costumes were specially treated so that they could release a colourless oily lubricant which would make them impossible to hold onto or bind.
History: Gadgetman and Gimmick-Kid were a team of gadgeteers who used their unique gadget-wizardry to combat super-crime and ultra-villainy. Gadgetman was really Burt Travis, super-successful businessman and head of the Travis Corporation, while Gimmick Kid was really ace lab apprentice Gary Stewart. When danger threatened the two would use teleportation discs hidden at their places of work to instantly transport them to their "far north Sanctum", where they would don their costumes and race into battle in the Gadget-Craft or one of their other wondrous inventions.
Comments: The two heroes had established a series of (rather obvious) secret codes to use in battle. Among their foes, Gadget Man and Gimmick Kid faced The Trickster and his Brain Men, and Doom Boy and Doom Girl.
The two were created by Jerry "Superman" Seigel. In spite of this impressive lineage, the strip only ran for six months and two stories.
