The Collector

Real Name: Unknown

Identity/Class: Mutant human

Occupation: Collector

Affiliations: None known

Enemies: Johnny Alpha, Wulf Sternhammer

Known Relatives: None

Aliases: None

Base of Operations: The Butterfly (his spaceship)

First Appearance: Strontium Dog, Starlord Annual 1982 (IPC, 1982)

Powers/Abilities: The Collector's mutation granted him a number of powers. He was telepathic, able to read the thoughts of others. His body absorbed gunfire and let it pass through him like he was made of water. He could exude acid to deal with those unlucky enough to come into physical contact. His sole weak point was his right heel, which was vulnerable to physical attacks.

The Collector also employed flying drones that fired a paralysing liquid. Victims of this would allegedly be permanently frozen.

History: The Collector was a victim of a severe mutation, and as such had gained a strong fascination for same. He travelled the galaxy in his ship, the Butterfly, alternately kidnapping or luring mutants on board. Once there he would render them unconscious and strip them of any weapons, then place them in a holding cell in the centre of his ship. Believing himself to be a hunter, he claimed to enjoy the chase as much as the kill, and so he would allow his victims the opportunity to escape if they could evade his flying drones and make it from their cell back to the hold where their ships were held.

He made a fatal error when he lured Strontium Dog Johnny Alpha and his partner Wulf Sternhammer on board using a false distress signal. They managed to evade the drones, regain their weapons and reach his control centre where they confronted him. Wulf was knocked out by the madman, and at first Johnny's gun appeared useless against the Collector; however when Alpha scanned his opponent using his mutated eyes, he spotted that the right heel appeared different from the rest of him. It contained the "thermostat" that regulated the heat generated in the rest of his mutant form, and when Johnny shot it, the Collector's body overheated and literally melted away.
