Captain Caveman

Real Name: Chester

Identity/Class: Superpowered Neanderthal - source of powers unknown

Occupation: (prehistoric times) Newspaper copyboy; (modern times) Crimefighter

Affiliations:  (prehistoric times) Betty Rubble, Wilma Flintstone (work colleagues), Lou Granite (boss); Cavey Jr (sidekick); (modern times) the Teen Angels - Dee Dee, Brenda and Taffy; Cave Bird.

Enemies: Vulcan

Known Relatives: Cavey, Jr

Aliases: Cavey (nickname given by the Teen Angels); "Cavey Wavey" (used by the Teen Angels when they needed to cajole him into doing something and were using their sex appeal to control him. Taffy in particular called him this).

Base of Operations: (originally) Bedrock; (later) mobile across USA in the Teenmobile

First Appearance: Scooby's All Star Laff-A-Lympics (Hanna-Barbera, September 10th, 1977)

Other Appearances: Scooby's All Stars (1978)

Captain Caveman and The Teen Angels (ABC, March 8, 1980 - June 21st, 1980);

The Flintstones Comedy Hour (NBC, November 22nd 1980);

The Flintstones Kids (1986)

Powers/Abilities: Superhuman strength, able to fly - pulled through the air by his club. The end of his club could also open to produce virtually any gadget he needed. Cave Bird lived in the club, and appeared to maintain these devices. At least in modern times his powers have an unfortunate tendency to give out at the worst possible moments - this may be a side-effect of his lengthy frozen hibernation. Shouting his name out seemed to help him renew his abilities. Caveman's fur also seemed to serve as a storage space for an incredible number of things, including living dinosaurs far larger than he was -by reaching into his chest hair he could produce almost anything.

History: (Captain Caveman - part of the Flintstones Comedy Hour) Captain Caveman was one of pre-historic Earth's first superheroes. No one suspected that Chester, mild mannered copyboy at The Daily Granite, a major Bedrock newspaper, was actually the heroic Neanderthal, not even reporters Betty Rubble and Wilma Flintstone.

Caveman and Son(Captain Caveman and Son - part of the Flintstones Kids) Captain Caveman eventually left his secret identity behind and continued to battle villainy, this time accompanied by his young, also-superpowered, son, Cavey Jr.

(bts) Somehow Captain Caveman was frozen inside a glacier. He would remain in suspended animation for thousands of years.

The Teenmobile(Captain Caveman and the Teen Angels - originally part of Scooby's All Star Laff-A-Lympics) In modern times Captain Caveman's frozen form was discovered by three amateur detectives known as the Teen Angels. They freed him from his icy prison, and he made a home atop their van The Teenmobile, travelling around the country with them and lending assistance when they worked on solving mysteries. Once again villains would learn to fear the cry "Captain Caaaaaaaaaaaveeeee-maaaaan!"

Comments: Captain Caveman was voiced by Mel Blanc. The character is copyright to Hanna-Barbera.

The Teen Angels, as depicted in Hanna-Barbera TV Stars #1Captain Caveman and the Teen Angels originated as a segment of Scooby's All-Star Laugh-a-Lympics (abbreviated a season later to Scooby's All Stars). Captain Caveman's clever disguise fools WilmaLess than a year after his cartoon cancelled, Cavey was back, this time as part of the Flintstone Comedy Hour, where we found out that in the past, prior to his freezing accident, he had worked alongside the wives of Fred Flintstone and Barney Rubble, in his previously unmentioned secret identity of Chester the copyboy. There were a total of eighteen episodes over two seasons (11 and 7respectively):

Season 2

Having made his mark in this short lived incarnation, Cavey took a break for a few years, before returning one final time, this time as part of the Flintstone Kids Hour. This time his co-star was his own son, Cavey Jr. It ran for one season, a total of 17 episodes:

Cavey, Jr

Real Names: Cavey, Jr

Identity/Class: Superpowered Neanderthal child

Occupation: Sidekick / trainee superhero

Affiliations: Captain Caveman (father and mentor)

Enemies: Same as his father, presumably

Known Relatives: Captain Caveman (father)

Aliases: None known

Base of Operations: Bedrock

First Appearance: Captain Caveman and Son

Powers/Abilities: Same as his father - superstrength and flight using his special club.

History: Cavey Jr is the son of prehistoric hero Captain Caveman. Armed with his own club, he began accompanying his father on crime-fighting missions at a young age (exactly how young is hard to tell since he looks like a ball of fur, making it difficult to judge how old he really is). Luckily, while he isn't quite as powerful as his dad, he is a lot smarter (which wouldn't be hard, honestly speaking).

Comments: Voiced by Charlie Adler.

Cavey Jr.'s fate after his father was frozen is unknown. Probably he grew up to become the new Captain Caveman.
