History: The Brute was a caveman "frozen since the dawn of time", until he was revived in the modern age (specifically "in the Spring of 1975"), when a nearby nuclear plant caused the local temperature to rise by a few degrees, just enough to melt the ice that imprisoned him. He began his contact with modern society by killing and eating two schoolboys who discovered his cave, while a third lad escaped to alert the authorities. In the short run of his comic he was captured by the authorities, killed the vengeful father of one of the ingested lads, battled Dr. Speer and his Reptile Men, and was accompanied by a bleeding heart '70's heroine until his rampage is halted by the Doomstalker (who incapitates or kills him, depending on how you view the book's cancellation...)
Comments: Thanks to Mike Murphy for the origin above and the following information: "The Brute was meant to have adventures analogous to those of the Hulk, but with infamous writer Michael Fleisher at the helm, there was bound to be a difference."
In his final issue the Brute spoke his first words, suggesting that if the series had continued there might have been a slight change of direction on the way.
