Brought to life, the artificial man was then injected with a secret formula that granted him superhuman abilities, but soon after this Nazi agents attacked the scientist's lab, fatally wounding him before the construct and the scientist's son, who had injected himself with the special formula when the lab was invaded, stopped them. With his dying breath the scientist named his creation Yankee Doodle Jones, and begged Jones and his son to protect America. With the scientist's son becoming his sidekick, Dandy, Yankee Doodle Jones went on to battle Nazis including the Leader and the Hag.
