Powers/Abilities: Tom Strange is a scientific genius. Having ingested Alosun, Strange possesses super-human strength, the ability to leap great distances, heightened endurance, and invulnerability. He can survive unsupported in the vacuum of space, without rest, food or water, for decades.

History: Tom Strange is a scientific genius who developed a serum called Alosun, described as a distillate of sun atoms. Ingestion of this serum gave Strange incredible powers which he used to fight against the Axis for the duration of WWII. At this time Strange took in a young orphan, Mike Ellis, as his partner. Often times his girlfriend Virginia would accompany them on various missions.

Around 1968 Strange met his counterpart, Tom Strong of a parallel Earth from the other side of the Milky Way Galaxy. Tom Strong visited Strange’s earth and dubbed it Terra Obscura. After this encounter, in 1969, astronauts of the “Helios” mission on the moon awakened an alien menace. The alien landed in Antarctica and began to turn the entire Earth into a spaceship in order to return to its planet. Some science heroes were killed in the attempt to stop the alien, including Mike Ellis. Others were captured and placed in suspended animation above the planet. Tom Strange managed to escape and lierally leapt his way across the Milky Way for 30 years to reach Tom Strong for help. With Tom Strong’s aid, Strange went back to Terra Obscura and freed the other heroes trapped in suspended animation. Together S.M.A.S.H. and Tom Strong freed the Earth of the alien threat.

Strange found himself disconnected from the current time period and grief stricken over the loss of Mike. He left his secret hideout in New Lancaster in the care of The Ape and traveled to Antarctica to explore the remains of the alien’s technology. During Strange’s disappearance S.M.A.S.H. disbanded. A new threat soon arose, the one-time hero, now god, Mystico (Seth). After stopping Mystico, Strange helped to reform the defunct S.M.A.S.H. and started work on a new headquarters for the team in Antarctica.

Strange began a relationship with Princess Pantha. When a distorted ship that belonged to the long thought dead Captain Future (Andrew Bryant) appeared approaching Earth, the pair travelled into space to intercept it. They discovered an unconscious Bryant had indeed returned and was causing widespread time anomalies on Earth. While on the ship, Strange also had to deal with the megalomaniac upgraded program known as Terror 2000. The threat ended when an unconscious Bryant awoke from a kiss by Ms. Masque and a past version of the real Terror destroyed the Terror 2000 program. To this day Tom Strange continues to play a vital role within S.M.A.S.H.

Tom Strange is a modernised version of the Nedor Golden Age hero, Doc Strange. All the heroes from his world, Terra Obscura, are Nedor heroes, with Tom Strange being the only one not going under his original name, presumably because it would be too similar to Marvel's Doctor Strange.
