History: Smokeman was born when U.F.O. agent Major Grant attempted to rescue his Zetan space chief from Dr Satann, the evil genius of E.O.S. (Enemies of Society). Satann shot both of them with his deadly ray, vaporising them, but as the vaporised forms merged, the Zetan passed his energies on to Grant, allowing him to change into a smoke form with but a thought.

Comments: Grant has a partner who is a gifted inventor, 'Boffin' Bailey. Boffin wears a red jumpsuit to Smokeman's blue.

Jim Croasdale informs me that "Smokeman was drawn by José Ortiz".
