History: Ursula Zandt was from an aristocratic Austrian Jewish family that emigrated to the United States in 1935, apparently correctly seeing Hitler's rise to power in neighbouring Germany for the threat that it was. Already eighteen when she arrived in America, Ursula was a wild child who disliked anyone trying to tell her what to do. After her parents died she became a vigilante, the Silhouette, launching her career by exposing a crooked publisher trafficking in child pornography and beating him and his photographers up for good measure. In the fall of 1939 she was persuaded by Captain Metropolis to join his new team of costumed crimefighters, the Minutemen, and she remained with them for the next seven years, despite not getting on with the team's only other female member, Silk Spectre, and active hatred between her and the anti-Semitic Hooded Justice. In 1946 her lesbian relationship with her long-term lover Dawn DeCarlo was publicly exposed, and the Minutemen voted to expel her from the team to protect it from the adverse publicity. Six weeks later she and Dawn were brutally murdered in their apartment by the Liquidator, a serial killer Silhouette had fought while with the Minutemen.
