History: Decrying the crimes of his age, wealthy dilettante Alan Bidell wished he could live in the "soft" times his ancestors had, only to dream of one such ancestor chastising him, telling him he was unworthy of the family's noble name and to get out and do something about that crime. When his grandfather was threatened by the serial killer known as the Jingle Man, Alan borrowed a replica of his ancestor's costume, and put to use his skills as a champion archer and All-American fullback to become the crimefighting Scarlet Arrow.
