Pearl Potter, the Producer's Daughter

Summary: Pearl Potter is the daughter of a successful and powerful TV producer, the owner of Potter Productions TV studios, who insists the Chief Director Cecil Beedimill uses his daughter to star in the adverts he shoots. Unfortunately, she's also a mischief-causing nightmare who constantly disrupts filming with her practical jokes.

Starring: Pearl Potter

Notable guest characters: None.

Setting: Mostly Potter Productions TV studios, with a few location shoots (Venice) and the Potter home occasionally.

Other cast:

Cecil Beedimill, a.k.a. Mr. Director

Debuted in Nutty#1 as Mr. Director; his given name is first revealed in Nutty#? He is the most frequent victim of Pearl's bad behaviour. During his rant in the first issue he reveals he used to be a lion tamer, which he considers a quieter job than handling Pearl.
Mr. Potter (Pearl's father and owner of Potter Productions).

After debuting in Nutty#1, he made intermittent appearances for the rest of the strip's run, showing up in
Jeeves (Mr. Potter's chauffeur)

Debuted in Nutty#1. He only appears in one panel here, but helps firmly establish Pearl's malevolent personality immediately as she deliberately yanks his tie hard as she gets out the car at the studios.
Steve Jenkins (Potter Productions staff)

Debuted in Nutty#1, where he correctly assessed Pearl on sight as a "right little horror" but made the mistake of saying this to Mr. Potter before his employer revealed the girl was his daughter. He appears to be some kind of production assistant to Cecil.
Bonzo

Pearl's brutish dog, which debuted in Nutty#2, his sole appearance.
Sam

Potter Productions studio guard dog, who makes his one and only appearance in Nutty#2.
An unnamed blonde girl

Pearl's victim/competition, a fellow child actor. Never named, it's possible that it's actually a string of different girls, but since they all look more or less the same, with curly fair hair, I'm assuming it's only the one character. She may be among the girls who Bonzo scares in Nutty#2, perhaps even the girl who finally replaces Pearl in the dog food advert being filmed.

History: (Nutty#1) - Mr. Potter takes his daughter Pearl to his TV studios and insists his staff use her as the new star in their commercials. She immediately and repeatedly disrupts the filming of an advert for mild brown Hairy Liquid (a play on the real world ad line "Mild green Fairy Liquid"), first wearing gigantic monster hands stolen from another studio's horror film and then "accidentally" throwing and breaking dozens of "slippery" plates, eventually driving Mr. Director to tears.

Comments: Apart from the TV studio setting Pearl is very much another naughty, trouble-making girl in the same vein as the better known Minnie the Minx, Beryl the Peril or Bad Penny. Pearl's strip proved to be the first casualty from those made up Nutty's original line-up, ending with issue #26, though she did manage more installments (25 one page stories) than the Bar-O Boys, who outlasted her by several weeks but had fewer episodes because they had a brief hiatus during their run.
