History: Danny Franks was a naive and innocent young soldier sent by Earth to fight the Krool on the planet Ararat. In his first couple of days on the planet, most of his troop were wiped out by the aliens, and he and a handful of others only survived because of the intervention of Bad Company. Given little other choice, they became part of Kano's squad of misfits, and Danny soon found his new life hardening him into a seasoned (and damaged) warrior, just like the rest of them. Danny was one of four survivors of the original Bad Company who made it off Ararat alive: he departed with Mac and Mad Tommy.

Eventually, with the formation of a new Bad Company being carried out under Danny's command, they found their erstwhile leader, and accompanied him on a mission to destroy the Krool Heart, a being which held the Krool together in a sort of loose gestalt mind. Locating it, they came to realise that it was dying. Finding out that Protoid intended to take the place of the Heart's offspring, which would put it in a position to take over the universe, Danny did the only thing he could to prevent this occurrence; he became the new Krool Heart himself.

Later, Kano gathered together a third incarnation of Bad Company, and set off to liberate one of the few men he could call a friend from this living captivity.
