History: The "Bog-Beast" was an explorer from a subterranean race who resembled a towering melted corpse. Naturally mankind decided he was a monster and treated him as such. Incapable of human speech (and possibly entirely mute), the Bog Beast was constantly shocked by the capacity of human to behave monstrously, towards him or themselves. When last seen, he was netted by police; captured for the murder of a girl (actually a lycanthrope he had killed in self-defense).
Comments: Bog Beast was Atlas' attempt to replicate Swamp Thing's modest success. He was, uncommonly for an Atlas character, reluctant to commit violence unless backed into a corner or to come to someone else's aid. Thanks to Mike Murphy for providing me with details and images of this character.
CLARIFICATIONS: Not to be confused with
Bog from Big Bang comics
