Comments: Created by Mike Frankovich, Jr.
Mike Murphy informs me that "Black Diamond was intended to be a big break for Americomics; an adaption of an upcoming film - in the Modesty Blaise mold starring B-movie queen Sybil Danning. The film was either never filmed or canned, but issues #1-2 adapted the screenplay. A total of five issues were published before what meant to be a continuing series tie-in called it quits. The character made a final uncredited cameo in Femforce where she got into a catfight at a party with her replacement as resident AC she-spy, White Heat." Thanks Mike for this intriguing information, and for the Paul Gulacy cover he sent me, a fraction of which can be seen on the left.
Tony Zablotny adds "From the way the story read in the first 3 issues, it seems that it took all 3 issues to adapt the movie" and helpfully provided most of the biographical information used above.
CLARIFICATIONS: Not to be confused with
Black Diamond, Golden Age hero
