Valkyrie Press

History: Having been initially self-published, "Fox," the creator/writer/artist of the 1980s independent comic Redfox subsequently arranged to have Harrier Comics publish a ten issue run of the title. As that deal came to its conclusion, Fox and his new writer, Chris Bell, set up a limited company, Valkyrie Press, to continue the series from #11, dated September 1987. Soon after they added another title, The Adventures of Luther Arkwright, reprinting and then completing a series that had languished in publishing limbo since 1982. Valkyrie Press released ten issues of each series before Bell announced her intention to retire from comics editing to have a family. Though plans were mentioned in Redfox #20 discussing the direction of subsequent issues under a new writer, novelist Mary Gentle, issue #21 never materialised.
