Comments: Initially called just Tops, and reverting to that name, TV Tops was intended as a competitor for the long-established Look-In magazine, featuring strips and articles based on popular TV shows, both British - The Famous Five, Hi-De-Hi, Marmalade Atkins, Metal Mickey, Minder, The Professionals - and American - Buck Rogers, Fame, Hart to Hart - as well as original strips including The Adventures of Young Sherlock (based on the TV series, not the later Spielberg movie), The Witch of Westwood High (a photo strip), Little and Large (featuring the adventures of TV comedians Syd Little and Eddie Large), Spit the Dog (based on the puppet mascot of TV show TISWAS), Kid's Army (a WWII strip very loosely tied to sitcom Dad's Army), The Horse That Came From the Sea (based on Joyce Stranger's novel Khazan) and The Fantastic Adventures of Adam Ant (based on the flamboyant pop star). Launched on 10th October 1981, it lasted until 28th January 1984, after which it merged with girls' comic Suzy.
