Super Shamou, Inuk Hero!
Real Name: Peter
Identity/Class: Human wielding magic artifact
Occupation: Unknown
Affiliations: Paani, Elisapee
Enemies: Unknown
Known Relatives: None
Aliases: None
Base of Operations: Canadian north
First Appearance: Super Shamou (Inuit Broadcasting Corporation, 1980s)
Powers/Abilities: Flight. Superhuman strength, enhanced senses. Invulnerable, and resistant to extreme cold (how else can he handle that skintight outfit in Arctic conditions?)
History: Peter was a mild mannered Inuk until he was visited one night by a spirit that informed him he had been chosen to provide peace and justice to the people of the Arctic, then gave him a charm of great power that transformed him into Super Shamou. He protects the wilderness of Canada, looking out for unwary travellers who fall foul of the unforgiving conditions, and children in particular. As well as rescuing such individuals, he also makes sure to teach them some realities of life in the North.
Comments: Super Shamou is the world's first Inuk (Eskimo) super hero. He was created by Barney Pattunguyak and Peter Tapatai © Inuit Broadcasting Corporation - Peter Tapatai played the character in his short film appearances (pictured below in costume holding the comic). This comic was drawn by Nick Burns and the translations were done by Micah Lightstone. It can be read online at the Inuit Broadcasting Corporation's website.
