Played by Christopher Reeve in the first four movies, and by Brandon Routh
in the fifth. The fifth movie, Superman Returns, is intended to be a sequel
to the first couple and to ignore the last two, effectively creating two
"realities" for the movie series - one which contains Superman 1 through
4 and the Supergirl movie, and one which contains Superman 1 and 2 and Superman
Returns (whether the events of Supergirl also took place in this reality
remains to be determined).
