In 1941 the first Superman cartoon was produced by Max Fleischer. His studio produced 9 cartoons before being it was bought out by Paramount and renamed Famous Studios, and 8 cartoons after. Despite this company name change midway through, the entire run of 17 stories is commonly referred to as the Fleischer Superman series.
