Strang the Terrible
Real Name: Unrevealed - presumably Strang is part of his real name
Identity/Class: "Normal" human
Occupation: Adventurer
Affiliations: Donald Frobisher, Prince Bobo
Enemies: Dunda (Eater of Elephants and Slayer of Lions)
Known Relatives: None
Aliases: The Strongest Man in the World
Base of Operations: Mobile worldwide
First Appearance: Adventure (1931)
Powers/Abilities: Strang possesses superhuman strength. He speaks several languages fluently, including Swahili.
History: Strang is a giant of a man, "well over six feet in height, with a chest and shoulders like a gorilla" with the "perfect figure of an athlete", but also possessed of "unusual intelligence and resource." He travelled the world in search of adventure, always eager to right any wrongs he encountered.
Comments: Initially appearing in text stories in Adventure during the 1930s, between 1944 and 1945 Strang began appearing in comic strip form in the Beano, in tales drawn by Dudley D. Watkins. He continued to appear in text tales in Adventure for several years after this.
Though dressed in animal skins in the picture in question, Strang was not a jungle lord-type character; he wore regular clothing appropriate to wherever he found himself. It's just that he tended to rip regular clothes any time he stretched, so making clothes out of the local fauna was often a better option during his adventures.
CLARIFICATIONS: Not to be confused with
Morgyn the Mighty, another animal-skin wearing strongman of this era.
