History: Inexperienced photographer Peter Piper was taking some photos at a press reception at Very Safe Lab's Incorporated, where they had "cleverly modified" spider-plants to have bug teeth when an escaped plant bit him on the buttocks, mutating him to give him spider-plant powers. When he witnessed his high school crush Jane Mary being mugged, he swiftly hired a costume (after the third attempt, after he initially tried out and decided against dressing in Red Indian and a pink fairy outfits), and rescued her. He continued his new crimefighting career, though the press turned against him after he recovered Peter Andre's master tapes, allowing the musician to release his new album of classic Greek showtunes. Rival hero Batman, over the hill and jealous of Spider-Plant Man's success, took Jane Mary hostage and threatened to throw her off Tower Bridge, but with the help of Robin, who switched sides for a larger percentage of merchandise royalties, Spider-Plant Man won the day, and married the grateful Jane Mary, keeping his true identity secret as she considered Peter Piper a creep.
