Setting: Unidentified English town, within a shortish train ride to Manchester, and near Groundwood, the setting for Billy's Boots.
Plot Summary: Schoolboy Tim Barlow was obsessed with speed, always wanting to be the fastest at anything he attempted and day-dreaming about breaking world speed records, be it for roller-skating, skiing, or anything else. The trouble was that this obsession also manifested as a lack of patience, constantly assuming he could master the requisite skills for each of his new speed-related hobbies without taking the requisite time to master them, leading him to take reckless and unnecessary risks.

Despite being in every issue of Speed, the Speedboy strip never got a front cover appearance; ironically, although Speed's merger into Tiger meant Tim Barlow lost his strip and became merely a supporting cast member of Billy's Boots, it also marked Barlow finally making it to the cover of an issue, as he appeared in a line-up alongside all the other Tiger stars, the only character there who didn't have his own series inside.
