Powers/Abilities: Prior to his transformation States was a superb athlete with excellent fighting skills, but otherwise no powers. After becoming a vampire he gained the full range of traditional vampire powers (and weaknesses).

History: One of America's living legends, Sergeant States, together with his young partner, Steve, the Star Spangled Kid (and with the Freedom Fighters) fought the Nazi menace during World War II. But when the war finished, States vanished. Nearly forty years on, he was found, frozen in ice, and revived to fight once more for the American dream.

That last is a total lie. In fact in August 1940, while working with the Freedom Fighters in Castleton, England, Sergeant States fell victim to the vampire Templar Richard, and joined the ranks of the undead. He continued to work for the Americans for the rest of the war (eating his way through several Star Spangled Kids), and he continued to do so covertly thereafter.

Whenever his vampiric nature took over too strongly he would head off on a killing spree, dodging his watchdogs, before eventually being brought back into line. In 2000 he returned to Castleton, the site of his transformation. He became the "Castleton Slasher", and the murders he committed caused Jack Staff to come back out of retirement. Jack and Becky Burdock eventually put a stop to his murders, but US secret service removed him before they could finish him off. Sergeant States continues to work for the American government.
