Sergeant Without Stripes
In Burma in 1943, newly arrived platoon commander Lieutenant Flashley ignores Sergeant Bill Saxon's warnings that a Japanese prisoner who has given up the location of Imperial troops may be trying to lure them into a trap, and leads his men into an ambush. Saxon manages to get them out alive, but Flashley accuses him of cowardice for ordering a retreat and demotes Saxon back to private. Despite this, the platoon continues to follow Saxon's lead, much to the anger of Flashley.
Sergeant Without Stripes ran in Battle Picture Weekly between 6th September 1975 and 8th November 1975, and was created by Norman Worker and Giancarlo Alessandrini.
