Powers/Abilities: Apparently superhuman strength - his fingers are described as "steel-like" and strong enough to dig into a plane's fuselage. Exceptional pilot, and excellent fighter. Agile enough to jump between planes while they were in flight. He flew a special aircraft, dubbed the Sharkplane.

Though the story is titled The Phantom Flyer, he's only referred to as the Flying Phantom in the actual tale. With only a single appearance, he's never depicted unmasked.
At least one site online, TV Tropes, identifies him as Colonel Danvers, but as the panel below shows, he's definitely called Carver, and at no point in the story does the name Danvers show up.
