History: The Phantom Pirate appears to have been a corsair. He had his own ship and was recognizable when it put into caribbean ports. His cabin boy was Tim Terrence who often carried messages to and from the Phantom Pirate. He also had a friend, Mike Marlin (another cabin boy?).

Thanks to Dansen T.Stahl who provided the following information, gleaned from an old fan magazine "Rocket Blast Comi-Collector".
"Costume: Spanish/British colonial war-era naval uniform complete with jacket. Kerchief mask covering eyes and top of head and tied off in back. Cutlass. Story and possibly art were by Syd Nicholls. He appeared in Zip Action Comics (circa 1943)." The original contributor of this information to the magazine was Geoffrey Tolle, who also recounted the history used above.
