Summary: The son of one of the 27th century's greatest scientific geniuses, Marvo had inherited his father's intellect, and despite only being fifteen years old, he possessed scientific knowledge comparable to an average scientist of forty, learning subconsciously while sleeping thanks to the super hypnobioscope; in recognition of his genius, the government has awarded him a plus sign at the end of his name, a privilege given to only the top ten minds of Earth. Accompanied by his friend Bud, Marvo discovered a world inside the hollow Earth, where he discovers prehistoric monsters, and then became the first human to visit a new planet which had entered the solar system, discovering it was the homeworld of the hostile insectoid Antarenes, who were plotting to destroy Earth so that Antar could take its place orbiting the Sun. Naturally Marvo and Bud found this objectionable, and they destroyed the Antarenes' guidance and propulsion systems, sending the planet spinning off back out of Earth's solar system.
History:
Comments: Created by Charles Hornig and Frank R. Paul.
Superworld's editor, Hugo Gernsbac, also created the future-era genius character Ralph 124c 41 + for Modern Electrics Magazine in 1911; like Marvo, Ralph was given the plus sign at the end of his name to denote him as one of the top ten minds on Earth, which suggests he and Marvo share the same reality, albeit a few decades apart as Ralph was active in 2660 while Marvo's adventures were set in 2680. Heck, since Marvo is said to have inherited his intellect from a genius father, maybe Ralph is that father!
Marvo is on the cover of Superworld Comics#3, but is depicted with black hair, rather than the red hair he has in the actual strip.
