Magma Taishi started life as a manga, before transferring to live action television in 1966, where it lasted for fifty-two 25 minute long episodes. It was the first tokusatsu to feature a giant hero, narrowly beating Ultraman by a couple of weeks. It was shown in the U.S. under the name Space Giant.
