History: (Lorna the Jungle Queen #1-5, Lorna the Jungle Girl #6-26, ga) Raised in the African jungle by her father after her mother died in childbirth, Lorna honed her hunting skills providing food for both of them after he was badly mauled by Numa the Lion, and had to have a leg amputated by M'Tuba, a native friend. At first Lorna hunted using a rifle, as her father had taught her, but she learned the hard way that such weapons could be unreliable. So she had M'Tuba teach her the use of knives and spears, and how to track and hunt like a native. Her abilities proved to be useful when she had to kill a local witch-doctor, who had become a head-hunter. After her father died, Lorna went deeper into the jungle to offer help to any who might need it.
Comments: Thanks to Jess Nevins for allowing me to use information from his excellent Golden Age Heroes Directory and his Guide to Golden Age Marvel Characters. Thanks also to Richard Boucher & Darrin Wiltshire @ PR-Publications for permission to use information from their equally brilliant collection of Golden Age Sites, PR Publications. Their knowledge of Golden Age characters far outstrips my own.
CLARIFICATIONS: Not to be confused with
any other jungle queens (Sheena, Jann, etc)
