History: (Kid from Dodge City #1-2, Two-Gun Kid #45, ga) Jess Wayne was the son of gunslinger and sheriff "Whiplash" Wayne, who tried to raise his son to follow in his footsteps. Jess' mother, a more gentle soul, instilled compassion for those in need in her child, and expressed the desire that he pursue a life of healing, not hurting. Much to his father's chagrin, Jess took his mother's attitude, rejecting the chance to take over Whiplash's job as Sheriff of Dodge City and choosing to become a doctor instead...at least until his father was backshot by criminal "Beef" Benson on the very day Jess was to depart for medical school. With his father now paralysed, Jess abandoned his original plans and took up the gun. His life proved to be a lonely one, as his reputation grew so swiftly that everywhere he went young hotshots sought to challenge him to prove they could outdraw him. In spite of this, wherever he went, the Kid from Dodge City continued to help those in need.
