History: Darrel Creig was the heir to his late father's steel fortune, but his uncle, Molodon, who had been entrusted to be his guardian, secretly coveted the money for himself. He and the boy's guide, Travers, took the thirteen year old lad sight-seeing to the Statue of Liberty, then threw him from the top, but by sheer luck and coincidence, the vigilante 13 was also visiting the Statue that day, to intercept saboteurs who he had heard planned to blow it up. Spotting what was happening, he leapt down and caught the falling boy, saving his life. Together they captured Molodon and Travers as they tried to flee. Feeling he was all alone in the world now, Darrel asked his rescuer to take him on as his partner, becoming the costumed crimefighter Jinx.
