History: Hermione is the child of Muggles (non-magical people). In spite of her heritage, she is probably the most capable student in her year at Hogwarts, the wizarding school she attends. If it's in a book, she can learn it. She first met Harry Potter and Ron Weasley on the train to Hogwarts at the start of her first year at that establishment, and in spite of arguments and the occasional falling out, they have remained firm friends ever since.
