Powers/Abilities: Superhuman strength. He had to take a pill each time he wanted to power himself up.

History: Stormy Foster was a mild mannered soda jerk, until the day he accidentally discovered a special vitamin which granted superhuman strength when ingested. Taking it, he became the hero known as the Great Defender (he also used his real name during many of his adventures, even though he was supposedly trying to maintain a secret identity, with his new job as a pharmacy clerk).

Stormy Foster's adventures ran through issues #18 to #34 of Hit Comics.

Thanks to Darci for clearing up my uncertainty as to whether Stormy had to keep taking the pills, and confirming that was indeed the case.
