History: Seeking a way to combat the growing tide of evil he felt was threatening the world, Doctor Adams designed a time machine, hoping he could garner aid from the future. His trip was stopped a thousand years in the future by Princess Ione, who granted him superhuman powers with a single touch, gave him a costume and proclaimed him the Thunderbolt, then sent him back to his own era to fight crime.

Comments: Thunderbolt only had a single appearance.
