Jess Fernandez informs me that Gagamba, created by Virgilio and Nestor Redondo was first serialized in Tagalog Klasiks in 1961. A year later he appeared in the movie Bakas ng Gagamba, where he was played by Bernard Bonnin, an action star who had just finished playing another komiks character, Alyas Palos (Alias the Eel). Three sequels followed in swift succession: Palos Kontra Gagamba (1963), Ang Lihim ni Gagamba (1964) and Gagamba at si Scorpio (1969). Ang Lihim ni Gagamba by Virgilio and Nestor Redondo, serialized in Alcala Fight Komix magazine, came out in July 9, 1963, and in 1970 he was the title star of Redondo's Gagamba Komiks Magazine.
