History: After his girlfriend was murdered, John Jaspers sold his soul to the demonic "M" to get revenge. Discovering M intended to unleash the Apocalypse, Faust vowed to use his hellspawned powers to stop him.
Comments: Created by Tim Vigil and David Quinn. Originally appearing under the Rebel Studios imprint of Northstar Comics, Faust has resurfaced in recent years at Avatar Press, and will be taking part in the War of the Independents. For anyone seeking out Faust's own series, be warned that the level of violence and gore is extremely high.
In 2001 Faust was adapted into a movie as "Faust: Love of the Damned", with Mark Frost playing Faust.
CLARIFICATIONS: Not to be confused with
Spawn, who also got powers from Hell
Ghost Rider, Marvel's undead biker, who likewise got his powers from a demonic pact
or indeed any of the numerous other heroes who were stupid enough to get powers through dealing with the Devil under whatever name
