History: Fredo was the clumsy laboratory assistant to robotics Professor Manalo, who kept him on in part because Fredo would allow himself to be used as a guinea pig. His girlfriend Helen, a librarian, wanted to become a superhero, and would pump Fredo for information about Manalo's experiments. Then she read a book about a magical orb supposedly accessable through a mystic portal located in the Intramuros ruins. The three of them set off to find it, unawares that David, an avaricious anthropologist, was also leading a team to obtain it.
Fredo's group got there first, narrowly, and discovered the orb on the body of a dead extra-terrestrial, but David's group kidnapped Helen to force them to surrender the artifact. Touching the orb, Fredo gained superhuman powers and rescued his love, only to see her possessed by the spirit of the dead alien, fall into a ravine, and be rendered comatose.
A year later she awoke, possessed by the alien, and calling herself Diabolika. Eventually Fredo, now calling himself Fantasticman, managed to lure the ghost out of Helen's form, and tracked it back to its buried spaceship, where they had a final confrontation.
