Fleeing some crows an earthworm named Jim hid inside the suit, and was mutated by the atomic particles within, evolving to sentience and growing to human size. Through his suit radio he heard Psy-Crow and Queen-Slug-for-a-Butt discussing committing nefarious deeds against her twin sister. Princess What's-her-Name, and set off to thwart them. After doing so he set up base in Terlawk, sharing a house with Peter Puppy, and continuing his adventurous activities.
Comments: After appearing first in a video game, Earthworm Jim gained his own tv show, where he was voiced by Dan Castellaneta. In the games he has a southern drawl, which is less pronounced in the cartoon. The cartoon aired on WB Network from 199501996, totalling 23 episodes. A series of action figures was released to accompany the show. Earthworm Jim comics were also released, different series for both the US and UK markets.
His gaming appearances include Earthworm Jim, Earthworm Jim 2, Earthworm Jim 3D, Earthworm Jim: Menace 2 the Galaxy, as well as appearing in Clayfighter 63 1/3. Later games incorporated villains introduced in the tv series.
