History: CYRIL originally arrived at the Marvel UK offices in a big parcel sent by an unidentified party in America. Upon opening the package, the Marvel UK staff found various mechanical parts that they initially thought belonged to either a vacuum cleaner or a lamp. However, upon assembling the parts, it became clear that they made a vaguely humanoid metal man, who they assumed to be a bizarre ventriloquist's dummy up until he began speaking. They set him to work in the offices as a general office dogsbody and editor droid, though he proved to be troublesome as often as he was helpful, with his daydreaming and Star Wars obsession. He sometimes clashed with the Secret Artist, a mysterious being who lived hidden away within the Marvel UK office building.

Comments: Initially only "appearing" as the unseen "computer" answering fan letters, CYRIL eventually graduated to spot illustrations and finally his own strip in Return of the Jedi #73. He was drawn by Steve Parkhouse and John Ridgway.
