History: Maria Sanchez was born in a small village near Cuernavaca in Mexico. Her father had prayed for a boy, but God blessed him with a girl. As if to compensate, young Maria grew taller and stronger than any man in the village. A vacationing wrestling promoter saw 19 year old Maria roughing up one of the local boys, and realised she had potential. He returned home to Mexico City with Maria and her signed contract. He trained her in the art of wrestling and arranged her first match, but a mix-up accidentally scheduled her to fight a male opponent, El Terror Negro. In spite of this she won her fight.
