Blue Tracer

Blue Tracer and Boomerang JonesReal Name: William Dunn

Identity/Class: Human, technology user

Occupation: Military engineer

Affiliations: "Boomerang" Jones (sidekick)

Enemies: M'bujies

Known Relatives: None.

Aliases: Wild Bill

Base of Operations: Mobile

First Appearance: Hit #1 (Quality Comics, August 1940)

Powers/Abilities: Dunn is a capable fighter and excellent engineer. His Blue Tracer all-terrain vehicle can travel across land, through the air (using telescoping wings which emerge from its sides), and under the sea. It is equipped with a variety of weapons, including machine guns and torpedo, and is heavily armoured, rendering it immune to small arms fire and capable of ramming through most obstacles.

History: Bill Dunn was a British engineer working with the army in Ethiopia early in World War II. When his unit was attacked by the M'bujies, a group of supernatural/alien beings, Bill was badly injured and the rest of his companions were wiped out. Luckily for the ailing Dunn, he was found by an Australian soldier, "Boomerang" Jones, who nursed him back to health. Bill then salvaged some of the M'bujies' damaged and abandoned equipment, using it to create a heavily armed all-terrain craft, the Blue Tracer. Accompanied by Boomerang, he travelled the world in the Blue Tracer, battling the Axis forces.

Comments: Created by Fred Guardineer.

Blue Tracer lasted the first 16 issues of Hit Comics. I don't think he has been seen since, though he is presumably now owned by D.C. Comics like the rest of the Quality line.
