Blue Wizard

Real Name: Craig Travers.

Identity/Class: Human transformed by magic

Occupation: School boy

Affiliations: Amazing Three, Police Inspector Burke

Enemies: Vogler

Craig TraversKnown Relatives: Sue (twin sister, a.k.a. Tanya)

Aliases: Bluey (Oakman's nickname)

Base of Operations: Satellite base orbiting above the U.K.; formerly Newton City

First Appearance:  Jackpot #23 (I.P.C., 6th October 1979)

Powers/Abilities: Craig transforms into the Blue Wizard whenever any one of the group says or even writes the phrase Rings of Zorr. Blue Wizard has a magical cane, which grants him a variety of abilities, such as transforming Oakman into a butterfly, creating a floating TV screen out of thin air, checking a hoard of robot duplicates for a heart beat to identify the one living person amongst them, allowing himself and his teammates to survive in space without any other equipment, and so on. Unlike his two teammates, he can't fly, so he usually creates a small flying platform to stand on. In Zenith we also see him cast illusions, fire energy bolts, levitate / fly, and cause a tree to grow up through an opponent.

The Wizard flying on his platform

The Wizard was not beyond using brute force on occasion (and from the picture may well have some degree of superstrength).

The Wizard demonstrates the full destructive capability of his staff

He can survive in outer space without requiring external life support or a space suit. In the original strip he was the only member of the trio unable to fly unaided, so he transformed a shield from the local police station wall into a flying platform he would ride atop. In Zenith he flies without this.

History: A criminal on his homeworld of Zorr, the villainous Vogler was sentenced to exile on an uninhabited world, but the ship transporting him was knocked off course towards Earth. Monitoring his journey from the other side of the Galaxy, Zorrian scientists observed three young Earthlings, twins Sue and Craig Travers and their friend Sam Pacey, close to where Vogler had crashlanded. Judging them ill-equipped to fight Vogler, the scientists decided to give them extra powers. Within moments the power transfer was complete, and seconds later the children found themselves encircled by rings of light, while an image of the chief scientist informed them to "just call on the Rings of Zorr whenever you need super powers to fight for good against evil." When Sue queried "Rings of Zorr?" the trio were immediately transformed. Finding himself now in possession of a magic wand-like cane and all in blue, even down to his skin, Craig dubbed himself the Blue Wizard, and joined his friends in forming the Amazing Three.

The group battled Vogler on multiple occasions, only sometimes capturing him but always defeating his schemes.

Comments: Created by Trevor Metcalfe.

Blue Wizard appeared as a major supporting cast member in Zenith: Phase 3. After the war was won, Blue Wizard erected a monument in honour of all the fallen heroes, including his sister.

Thanks to Mike Logan for additional information, confirming the origins of the Blue Wizard's flying platform.
