History: The Black Hawk was a commando-style hero who operated in war-torn Europe. No reference to his nationality was made. He could render himself invisible using a gas released from his belt.
Comments: Thanks to Dansen T.Stahl who came across references to this character in an old fan magazine "Rocket Blast Comi-Collector". From there he gleaned the details of Black Hawk's history and powers, as well as the following notes:
"Costume: Full-body suit with half-high turtle-neck collar. Wide belt holding a pistol holster. The belt also held a number of small (only slightly longer than the belt was wide) gas cylinders, mostly in back. Wide "Y" suspenders/harness (back and front). At the center of the "Y" is the emblem of a hawk's head. Domino mask.
Black Hawk, by Jim Colt, is not the Quality air ace here. John {the Australian source for the author's information} believes that he was a one shot effort. A commando type, he became invisible by releasing a gas from his belt. Moustachied (the splash panel, ironically, has the silhouette of a black hawk in it). Because he was not cover featured, his costume colors were never revealed (since) most Australian comics were in black and white." The original contributors to the magazine were John Ryan and Howard P. Siegel
CLARIFICATIONS: Not to be confused with
Blackhawk, W.W.II pilot
Black Hawk, British scientific hero, former villain
