History: One night Gabriel Garrison was visited by a nameless messenger who bestowed upon him great power, a power intended for good. Once discovering what that power was and what it enabled him to do, Gabriel became Axiom-man, a symbol of hope in a city that had none.

For four months Axiom-man aided the citizens of Winnipeg in what would later be reflected upon as "everyday crimefighting" (stopping robberies, putting out fires, etc.), until one night, while on patrol, a mysterious black cloud appeared over the city. Flying over to investigate it, Axiom-man was stopped short when the cloud's presence shook him to the core. An electrifying fear emanated from the cloud and he was barely able to get near it. The cloud then took flight and led him on a wild goose chase throughout the city, only to flee from him in the end. Almost immediately after the cloud's appearance, a new hero arose, Redsaw. The people of the city quickly became enamored with this new super-powered marvel, and seemed to have forgotten about Axiom-man and all he'd done for them.

Except something was wrong. That same fear that emanated from the cloud dripped off Redsaw like a foul smell and Axiom-man was unable to get close to him without feeling ill and feeling as though his powers were being sucked away. As if that wasn't enough, Gabriel's day job hadn't gotten any easier either. His co-worker and the woman he adores, Valerie Vaughan, still ignored him, and his boss had made it clear that one more day late to work would be the day he cleaned out his desk.

Soon after, Axiom-man discovered that Redsaw's presence tied into the messenger's life-altering visit some four months before and if he didn't act quickly, not only the city, but the whole world, would succumb to an evil that had haunted the cosmos since the dawn of Time.
